To our smokehouse fans-
We have an important announcement to share with you. Please note the updated closure date shown below.

We have made the incredibly difficult decision to close Ruddell’s Smokehouse effective Friday, December 31, 2021.

The historic building at 101 “D” St. will be coming down, and after weighing every possible alternative, we have come to this conclusion.

We want to thank everyone for 20 years of incredible support. Thank you to my dad Jim Ruddell for making this all possible and to my mom Kathleen Ruddell and our loyal crew for keeping the magic alive and the integrity of our product true to Jim’s recipe.

This decision was not made lightly, and we recognize that this is not only a huge change for us but for our community as well. We kindly ask that you do not direct questions to our staff. Please email questions to Kathleen at ruddellfamily@yahoo.com.

Please do come and visit us over next few months and enjoy our unique food! Our hours will continue to be Thursday-Sunday 11am-6pm. Please stay tuned for hours as we get closer to our closing date.

Please do share your favorite smokehouse memories with us in the comments or DMs. Once again, thank you for supporting our family and business for two decades. Much love to you all.

With gratitude,

Rose Ruddell

RUDDELL'S SMOKEHOUSE

SINCE 2001

Jim Ruddell was fascinated by the process of smoked foods and its origins for many years. With the help of his wife, Kathy, he spent a lot of time researching and tracking down the purest of ingredients for the seasoning in his recipes. They also visited as many smokehouse restaurants as they could find. After taste-testing dozens of smoked food items and dishes, and comparing them to his own recipes to determine how they measured up, they never found anything better!

Jim decided this California coast location was the perfect spot for establishing his business, primarily because he had such ready access to an abundance of fresh fish, caught right here in local waters. As word spread about his talent, he became known locally as “Smoker” Jim.

As his reputation grew, along with the demand for his fine smoked foods, it became apparent they needed to open their own smokehouse. It’s success continues to satisfy all those who visit.
